More Than Just A Refreshment: Ayurvedic Mocktail

11.07.2022

What comes to mind when you think of summer? Refreshing lemonade? Tropical coconut water? Or a focus-booster iced americano?

Apparently, most of us will think of fresh and relaxing drinks. Then, how about adding some ayurvedic health to this freshness? Then read on, as we’re sharing two ayurvedic mocktail recipes that you can prepare all by yourself anytime and anywhere …

Warm weather, lively nature,  pleasurable vacations… This is what summer means to most of us. On the other hand, like all seasons, summer is not without its side effects. For example, as the first thing that comes to mind, dehydration. Skin and digestive problems. Even elevated stress and fatigue from the Big Yellow’s scorching heat… And according to Ayurveda, these side effects may actually cause imbalance in our “Doshas”.

To put it clearly, as the cornerstones of Ayurveda, these Doshas, namely Vata, Pitta and Kapha, exist in each of us, albeit in different ratios –Ayurveda suggests that every person has this one Dosha more dominant than others– and together, they create a holistic balance in terms of body, mind and soul. Though, this balance is quite delicate; and it can be disarrayed by various internal and external factors. And the swelling effects of summer are among them.

By the way, if you want to know a little more about your Ayurvedic Dosha type, you can check out our article here.

Why Ayurvedic Mocktail?

Actually, the reason is quite simple. Ayurvedic Mocktail, like other notions of Ayurvedic diet, makes you feel wholly nourished and energized, based on your body type and Dosha balance. Plus, not only does it uplift as much as those alcohol and sugar fueled cocktails, but it also revitalizes the body, replenishes the mind and tranquilizes the soul with its wholesome mixture.

Pitta Dosha, composed of fire and water elements in Ayurvedic theory, is the dominant energy type in summer. While Pitta in our body may increase during this season, other Doshas may also fluctuate. Such as Vata, which is responsible for maintaining electrolyte balance and movement, may reduce in level. And this naturally affects our Dosha balance.

That’s why a refreshing and nutritious Ayurvedic Mocktail that would decrease our body temperature to tolerable limits, is an easy, healthy and delicious option to help a little with our Dosha balance! Plus, it's very “IN”, being among 2022’s most popular spa and wellbeing trends.

Chop the watermelon and musk melon in chunks and blend in a juicer. Squeeze in a wedge of lime per serving. Add the cardamom.
